This site is live, the old web app is gone, and the old database stays until its data has been carried across.
scienti.st now points at the pre-launch site you are reading, served by a Worker with no third-party requests. The old web service was deleted the same day. The old database was kept on purpose: it holds data the ninth edition has not imported yet, and deleting it would take its backups with it.
The order matters, and it is the same rule the rest of the rebuild follows: the thing that verifies a copy is never the thing that deletes the original. The import into the new system shows record counts and a hash per collection before it writes anything, and re-hashes from the new store after. Only once those match the old export does retiring the old database become a decision to take, and it will be taken here, dated, rather than as a side effect of tidying up.
What this site does: it states the claim, links the security page, and keeps a waitlist. It holds nothing else. Fonts are served from here, the content-security policy allows no outside origin, and the page that takes your address stores the address and the time you gave it, and nothing about your visit.
